PRESS CALL: Newcastle College students train to become the next generation of lifesavers
NOT FOR PUBLICATION UNTIL 16 OCTOBER 2026
What: 200+ Newcastle College students will take their first steps towards becoming a new generation of lifesavers by learning lifesaving skills as North East Ambulance Service delivers CPR awareness sessions at Newcastle College for Restart a Heart Day; skills that could one day help them save someone’s life.
Media will have the opportunity to photograph students learning CPR and practising how to use a defibrillator, as well as speak to students about their experience and NEAS representatives about why knowing these simple skills can make a life-or-death difference.
The event will highlight the importance of equipping young people with the confidence to act when someone’s heart stops beating because anyone, anywhere, could find themselves in a position to save a life.
Who: 200 Newcastle College students, college staff, and the community resuscitation team at North East Ambulance Service.
Where: Newcastle College – Rye Hill Campus, Scotswood Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 7SA.
When: Restart a Heart Day, Friday 16 October 2026, 10.30am–12.30pm.
