Ambulance door with NEAS name

Press call (under strict embargo until 21 May 2021): Opportunity to film Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, as she visits North East Ambulance Service

WHEN: Wednesday, 21 May, 9.30am-10.30am.  (NB. Any press attending must be on site no later than 9am)

WHERE: Russell House, (Unit 6) Monkton Industrial Estate Off Mill Lane, Hebburn, NE31 2JZ

WHAT: Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal, will be visiting North East Ambulance Service on Wednesday, 21 May, as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team and the NHS 111 service, and to present The Queen’s Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct.

There will be opportunities to film:

  • 9.35am - The initial meet and greet with Mrs Susan M. Winfield, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, NEAS Chair Peter Strachan, NEAS Chief Executive Helen Ray and NEAS Chief Operating Officer Paul Liversidge as well as Mayor of South Tyneside, Councillor Patricia Hay
  • 10am - A live demonstration of the Hazardous Area Response Team’s response to a terrorist incident
  • 10.25am - The Queen’s Medal presentation ceremony, where 14 frontline staff will be presented with their medals for long service and good conduct
  • 10.45am - Opportunity to interview a representative from NEAS.

Please note, there will be a small break in between the demonstration and medal presentation whilst Her Royal Highness receives a tour of the Emergency Operations Centre. However, we are unfortunately unable to offer a filming opportunity inside the building due to COVID-19 safety requirements.

Photos of The Princess Royal visiting the Emergency Operations Centre and throughout the visit will also be available after the event from the host photographer.
