Telephony issues at North East Ambulance Service

North East Ambulance Service is reminding members of the public to only call 999 for emergencies after experiencing telephony issues this morning.

Paul Liversidge, Chief Operating Officer at North East Ambulance Service, said: “We’re experiencing telephony issues at our Bernicia House site this morning.

“We have resilient contingency plans in place for incidents like this to minimise the impact to patients.

“Our plans are implemented immediately during an event like this. They involve back up support at our second control room as well as telephony support from neighbouring ambulance services where necessary.

“We are working closely with BT to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

“As always, please only call 999 in the case of an emergency.”
