The hunt is on for ambulance service Council of Governors
North East Ambulance Service is inviting members of the public to put themselves forward for nomination for its Council of Governors.
The nomination process is now open, ahead of voting opening in April.
Nominees must be:
- Foundation Trust members living within the constituency for which they wish to be elected
- Aged 16 or older
- Meet the eligibility criteria set out in the nomination pack
The deadline for nominations close at 5pm on Thursday 13 March 2025.
Elections are taking place in the following public constituencies:
- Teesside (one vacancy)
- Durham (three vacancies)
- North of Tyne (three vacancies)
NEAS Chairman Dr Stuart Corbridge said: “Whilst not involved in the day-to-day running of our service, our governors play a vital role in reviewing the performance of our Board and the contribution our service makes to the wider health and care system in the northeast, providing an essential link to the communities we serve.
“As well as representing their local communities, responsibilities include appointing the next Chair and other non-executive directors, receiving our annual report and accounts, and providing their views on our strategy and plans for the future to benefit our patients.
“Only Foundation Trust members are eligible to stand for election so if you’re not yet a member and are interested in the role, please do get in touch.”
