Attended cliff rescue near Frenchman's Bay in South Shields - 3 January 2026

A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called by Northumbria Police to attend an incident on the cliffs near Frenchman's Bay in South Shields just before 3.30 this morning (3 JAN).

"We dispatched a paramedic ambulance, two hazardous area response team crews, a clinical team leader and a duty officer. The coastguard was able to safely bring the patient for assessment by our crews and transport to hospital."
