Incident on the A690 near Rainton Gate, Houghton Le Spring - Tuesday 21 April 2026

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident on the A690 near Rainton Gate in Houghton Le Spring at 14:27 on Tuesday 21 April. We dispatched two ambulance crews, one specialist paramedic and were supported by our colleagues at Great North Air Ambulance Service. One patient was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital via road for further treatment."
