Person in the river near North Road, Durham - Tuesday 18 August

A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a person in the river near North Road, Durham, shortly before 4.50pm on 18 August. We dispatched a double crewed ambulance, a rapid response paramedic, a duty officer, three vehicles from our Hazardous Area Response Team and were supported by Great North Air Ambulance Service. One patient was taken by road to University Hospital of North Durham."
