Road traffic incident on the A1 southbound at Chester le Street - Friday 20 March 2026

A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a road traffic incident on the A1 southbound at Chester le Street shortly before 2pm on 20 March. We dispatched two double crewed ambulances, two vehicles from our Hazardous Area Response Team and a duty officer. Two patients were treated and discharged at the scene and one patient was taken to University Hospital of North Durham."
