Carole Panteli

Spotlight on our Board: Carole Panteli

This month, we asked non-executive director (NED), Carole Panteli, to tell us a little about her role.

“Thank you for asking me to tell you a little about myself and my role with NEAS. I joined the Trust in September 2024 as a clinical NED. I trained as a registered nurse at South Tyneside Hospital then moved to Yorkshire to undertake midwifery training. I always intended to return to the North East but marriage to a Yorkshireman and children has meant my NHS career has mainly been in Yorkshire and the North West.

"I have held Director of Nursing and Quality roles in both provider and commissioning organisations and was Director of Nursing and quality for Lancashire when NHS England was formed. I also have experience of governance and risk management through my work as a specialist adviser to CQC hospital inspection teams and sitting as an independent panellist on fitness to practise hearings at the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

"I was a Clinical NED with a mental health trust in Bradford for five years before relocating back to the North East.

"I really enjoy working with NEAS colleagues and have recently become chair of the Quality Committee and also sit on Audit and Risk Committee. Whilst I’ve been around the NHS for many years, I find the ambulance services to be very different and very complex. The staff are highly trained and I have the utmost respect for their level of clinical expertise.

"All of our staff have a very important impact on the lives of people in the North East  and I’m looking forward to the future”
