Over 380 North East residents volunteer their spare time to support North East Ambulance (NEAS) Service patients and employees were recognised tonight (Wednesday 5 June) at a ceremony at the Royal Station Hotel, Newcastle, organised by NEAS.

North East Ambulance Service is targeting five areas across Sunderland to expand its army of volunteer community first responders in a bid to save more lives.

This week, North East Ambulance Service’s volunteers received a visit from National Strategic for Volunteering at Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE), Helen Vine. 

We are looking for community first responders (CFRs) in your area.

WHAT:            

Lights and sirens will join scores of young runners and volunteers at this coming week’s Saltwell Junior Parkrun in Gateshead to celebrate the NHS 75^th birthday.  

North East Ambulance Service has teamed up with the event organisers, along with NHS and health representatives from across the area. 

An emergency ambulance and branded NHS75 transport vehicle from the Queen Elizabeth hospital will also be present with NHS staff to cheer on the runners.
