North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) is to take part in a new research project working with Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) to highlight unexpected health problems early.

The initiative is a partnership between North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) and Newcastle University to train medical students to volunteer as the Trust’s community first responder scheme.

On Wednesday 14 May 2025, an ambulance crew from the North East Ambulance Service reunited with 8-year-old Bella who called 999 when her mam fell ill. The crew presented Bella with a bravery certificate from the service.
